The ‘Mass for the Care
of Creation’

Official liturgical texts

The new ‘Mass for the Care of Creation’ (Missa pro custodia creationis) consists of two sets of liturgical texts, the formulary and the lectionary (which might vary slightly country by country), for your celebration of the World Day of Prayer for Creation.

Important note:
Missals and Lectionaries in parishes are outdated and do not have this new Mass, which is why it is important to print these new texts to be used in the Mass.

1. Mass formulary

The Dicastery published (in July 2025) the official Latin version and translations in 6 languages:

The liturgy commission of each episcopal conference needs to review/adapt the translation as needed – according to local language style – and/or translate into other languages (once the local Formulary is ready and approved by the Bishops’ Conference, it is then sent to the Dicastery for Divine Worship for the ‘confirmatio’, a procedural step to make it official). In some cases, episcopal conferences have authorized the temporary use of the translations provided by the Dicastery (see links above), until the final texts are ready; for example, this was the case in some conferences participating in “joint liturgical commissions” of various countries using the same language (for example, ICEL in English).

2. Lectionary readings

The Dicastery prescribed these lectionary readings, to be adapted with the Bible version used nationally by each conference.

3. National translations

You can contact your episcopal conference to request the translated texts to be used in your country.

For convenience, a list of national texts will be compiled here:

This list is not comprehensive as it only includes those texts that have been sent to the partner organizations hosting this website; many other conferences might have already completed the work as well. If you do not see your country in the list, please contact your national episcopal conference to ask for the texts.

Submissions of the texts from missing countries are warmly welcome so they get added to this list; please send them to World.Day.Creation@gmail.com
